Poetry of Peace and Love In  Life Around

Jasvinder Singh

Stephen Gill World Peace Academy has opened a  new chapter under the orgies of Dr. Ram Sharma  to provide a platform to poets and writers  from everywhere.  Its inaugural journal contains  thirty five poets, who express their views on world peace and  glimpses of life, phenomenal occurrences, changes , life’s pit-falls and love that sustains life.

Prof. Dr. Anju Saxena , Director, Sundeep Engg. College, Ghaziabad (U.P) in the forward to the anthology mentions that ‘Poetry is the chiseled marble of language; it is a paint-spattered  canvas – but the poet uses words instead of paint, and canvas is you’, and ‘ … the most definable characteristic of the poet form is economy of language. Eftichia Kapardeli from Greece and Chief editor  of this anthology has emphasized that  ‘poetry belongs to all persons of  every  color and race.  It is poetry that bridges the borders of countries and embraces the persons  that seek a better world with peace and love’. Her poems in the journal provide interesting reading through innovative thoughts on  phenomena around and  love. In the poem ‘It is time’ she pleads

           “It is time to

distribute new light…

to root out anger

with kisses and tears

sweet to divide  the

moments

hours of chase

grow the shackles of time’.

Her poems indicate the sanctity of true love that dwells in everyone’s heart and  needs to be shared with fellow beings. On ‘Love’ she  most impressively contends that :

“In the  all  hearts of person those

 that remained chronic

small

be born

they grow

Love in your own embrace.”

Dr. Ram Sharma, who always brims with new ideas, in his poem   Plant A Tree suggests:

Plant a tree

become  tension free

water it with care

no pollution will be there

birds will chirp

cool breeze will pump

it provides shadow

for peace  of dove

gives us lesson of sacrifice

make  us learn to be suffice.”

Dr. Ram Sharma infuses thoughts on eco-friendliness in life , peace and tranquility  in the environment which is the crying need of time. He wants  that horse sense prevails in our general attitude towards fellow beings whether humans or animals,  and that we should attach greater importance to co-existence. In  another poem  Saburi(Patience) he very amicably reflect his love for fellow beings:

‘Control of anger

creating of grace

Out of materialistic race

Helping  poor with good peace

Arising of conscience

All human’s conference

With much patience.’

The thoughtfulness of the poet is admirable for his sane advice to one and all. His acumen of intellect enhances admiration of the reader for the poet.

The poet Msoam Sinha  in his haikus provides  inspiring thoughts on women  in words:

             ‘Save thyself from share

            laid by so called gentlemen

            she needs your due care’

On  flowers he contends:

            ‘Don’t pluck lovely flowers

            to be offered to worship

            Divine force is there.’

Indeed, flowers are tender and beautiful with their perennial phenomena  of beauty and fragrance. They should be left on the plant to be a decorator of nature adding to its beauty and love for themselves.

The poet Parikh Patel presents a nice picturesque of surroundings, exhibiting his subtle imagination  in words:

“The whirls of dust running with

              the home ward cattle ,

              the narrow  pathways trodden

              during my schooling

            and all in the village

            Beckon me.”

Another poem which presents a different picturesque of love  is by  Anshu Sharma. Through her beautifull expression  ornate with subtle imagery, she says:

“A moment of a new bride,

            Going to her husband’s home

            in palanquin with pride .

A  pleasure of going new relation

But a pain of having separation.”

Poet Sunil Sharma  visualizes an attractive feeling of love in heart  when he shares in his poem Love And Peace:

“Love is

holding  hands

against  the barbed wires

separating  two nations,

and proving the  superiority

of two beating human hearts

against all heavy odds.”

Gargi Sinha is a prolific writer/ poet who has been widely published in newspapers, including  the Indian Express, The Times of India and other literary journals . She poses a million dollar question in her poem ‘Innocence Stolen’ she asks:

            “No more same innocence

            Endurance or escalating elegance

Day after day every thing lost somewhere

            Untraceable  in the air.

            Is this advanced education

            Scarcely reaps optima pacification.”

Indeed, in many respects  education has been facing set backs owing to some questionable policies, their implementation and some complex problems emanating from  bad planning , negligence , and to a large extent lax attitude of the people who are at the helm of affairs and are ruling the roost at the precious cost of interests of truly beneficial education we have been looking forward to.

Mr. Sobhagyabanta Mehta  nicely delves on   his ‘loneliness’ optimistically  in his poem The Unspoken Pretence:

            “Someday my loneliness

            shall provide security

            to my future

            to carefree thoughts

            of pretence free life.”

‘Irene’ is  Mar Zavianeli Diamantaki’s in poem on ‘peace’  has personified her remarkable imagination  and thoughtfulness, as shown in the following lines:

“At nights she is leaning her head

            she is asleep…silver tear drops

shine down from the corners of

            her eyes…..

            Irene …. A bloodied moon…

            A silent scream.”

Her expressions  make  the reader spell-bound. Her imagination and imagery are highly commendable.

Likewise, every other poet enchants the readers  and leaves indelible impressions of their subtle imagination and thoughtful expressions. Without any exaggeration, they earn immaculate disposition in the eyes of  the readers.

One thing I should not hesitate to  write is that the anthology being international  should have been  given  a better layout, because of the name of Stephen Gill attributed to the anthology.

Last but not the least, it is noteworthy that the journal has paved a way to opportune poets from all walks of life  to come forward to express themselves liberally and thoughtfully. It is  hoped that  the journal will enjoy a bright future through its popularity and strength  with concerted efforts of its team of editors led by Dr. Ram Sharma.
