BASANTA
KUMAR KAR
Basanta Kumar Kar (b.1961) hails from Kendrapara,
Orissa (India). A lawyer with a post
graduate degree in rural management, Mr. Kar has more
than 24 years of experience in the social development
sector, working to better understand and bring a lasting change to poverty and
vulnerability in India and abroad.A
student of English literature, Law and Rural Management Mr. Kar
has a passion for poetry since his childhood.
Basanta Kumar Kar is currently Operations Director for CARE, India, an
international development organisation and overseeing programs in Indian states. He
has expertise in advocacy, gender, rights based programming, livelihood
security, nutrition and disaster management, and has published a wide range of
articles on development and management.
Mr. Kar’s vision is well recognized by the
Government and civil society.
His first collection of poems, The
Naïve Bird and the second collection of poems The Silent Monsoon have
been published by Books India International, New Delhi(A Unit of
National Publishing House) and Writers Wrokshop, Calcutta
respectively. The third collection of poems is written on real life stories of most vulnerable
women.
